"Keloid, I Hate You!" | Wednesday, May 05, 2010, 9:26 PM |
Alright. This is how my wound look like now. It was a long story about why I went for a minor operation. Anyways, the lump on my right ear is called 'Keloid'. (Wikipedia.)
The Wikipedia stated that Keloid can grow if it occured during young time. This is exactly why I wanted my ear to be operated because it is growing bigger each day and is annoying me at the same time. I didn't dare to put my hair behind the ear, because I'm afraid of attracting unecessary attention. Some people might get shock after seeing it, my friends are a good example, and keep asking why or what happen to my ear... Sickening.
Worst of all, it nearly became hard to operate the normal way, which is the injection. I had dragged this matter too long, over a year actually, thus becoming like that. If you ever got this, you better see a doctor ASAP! Or else you might regret it and need to undergo the same treatment as me, which is the laser treatment. When it is small, it can undergo injection will do.
Well, because of this stupid lump on my ear, I actually went to see 3 doctors. First time was when I asked my mum to bring me to the Polyclinic to see what's wrong with my ear. Thereafter, I was transferred to NUH. (Same normally procedures: need to go through Polyclinic before going to NUH.) Then, I went to the NUH's appointment to check it & make operation appointment. The nurse said cost $400+ for the laser treatment & my mum thought that it was too expensive. Hence, she tried to bring me to normal clinics at the outside. She said this kind of lump any clinics also can cut. (As if...) The 2nd doctor said it is too big. Saying that this is a growth, need to go hospital cut. My mum then said, "Okay, don't need to transfer us to Poly. We go there ourselves.". (Rubbish, we already had the operation appointment fixed at that point of time. Only she doesn't wish to give up...) She even paid the consultation fees, just for letting the doc see my ear. She deserved it since she wanted to give it a try.
After this, my dad come into this matter & stir things up. He recommended another clinic that had opened for a long time. There, I met the 3rd doctor. The doc also said it was too big, might bleed if cut, hence need me to go hospital. He wanted to transfer me go NUH too, but my mum said no need because I had appointment at there already. One thing about this doctor was that, he knew exactly what the lump is. He said it was Keloid. Then, he explain the origin & theory about Keloid and even told me to look at the poster pasted outside his check room. After these 2 extra times of checking, my mum gave up. (Finally...) I was so angry & annoyed by these stupid check-ups, wasted my time. Geez!
Today, on my appointment card, I saw the description for the first time. It wrote 'Keloid'. WTH! The answer is all along with me! If I did read the card carefully, I might already knew what the name of that lump! So this is a lesson for me, wish you won't make the same mistake like me too! It is really silly...
That's all for this entry. It is getting too long. Hence, I wanna write a part 2 for the operation.
